Resources for Artists

We put together this list of resources for artist assistance.

Part of The Straz’s mission is to support local artistic talent, and usually we’re able to do that by offering stages, gigs like Live & Local or Arts Legacy REMIX and unique opportunities to collaborate. But when audiences must stay home, our best effort to support our local artists through this global pause is to compile a list of available resources.

We have edited this list and descriptions from our friends at South Arts in Atlanta and the Florida Department of Cultural Affairs  as well as added a few local organizations. It is by no means comprehensive, but it’s a good place to start.

Artist Relief is an initiative organized by small to mid-sized national arts grantmakers. Artist Relief will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19; serve as an ongoing informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers, designed by Americans for the Arts, to better identify and address the needs of artists moving forward. NOTE: Deadline for the first round of grant applications is this Thursday, April 23. To apply, visit https://artistrelief.submittable.com/submit.

Our friends at the Association of Performing Arts Professionals have gathered links to the new federal relief funds and grants through the National Endowment for the Arts.

The St. Pete Arts Alliance offers a list of resources on its website, and the Arts Council of Hillsborough County provides extensive links on their website here.

As always, The Straz stands with our artists and artistic community. We are all in this together. Stay safe, and we can’t wait to see you when the curtains rise again.

art is too important not to share.
